Company overview

In recent years, the concept of future cities that utilize AI and IoT technologies to solve various social issues has been gaining momentum around the world.
Under the slogan of "Together with drones and robots, toward the society of tomorrow," our company is taking on the challenge of creating new social infrastructure every day. President Takayuki Kumada comments: "Our strength is our flagship product, the Blue Earth Platform (BEP). This platform enables the automatic control and coordination of multiple drones and robots via various devices remotely and out of sight. And it can integrate and link information with systems for buildings, logistics, disaster prevention, and others."
This enables remote, safe, and efficient office cleaning and security as well as infrastructure and factory inspections. We are also driving the industry through joint projects with major automobile and construction companies, demonstration projects with universities and government agencies, and other advanced initiatives.
"The image of a future smart city society utilizing drones as I discussed with the president during my interview overlapped perfectly with my own imagination. I feel that I have a lot of freedom in my work and am able to use my skills to challenge myself to do things that are new to the world," said Paulo, from the Philippines. The workplace also attracts multinational engineers, who create new services on a daily basis.

Work-life balance initiatives

The company promotes "work-life integration" with regard to the way employees work. The goal is to provide a high degree of freedom in work hours and location and to ensure that employees can enjoy their lives while also achieving good results at work in accordance with their life plans.
Currently, most of the company's employees work from home three to four days a week, but in the future, the company is considering developing this further and introducing "workations," where employees can work in regional or overseas areas for short or long periods of time while also enjoying the local lifestyle. In fact, when one of the company's foreign employees returned to their home country, they worked remotely for about a month on a trial basis. In addition, the company as a whole is actively engaged in childcare support, with management and male members of the company actively taking childcare leave.
Paulo also commented: "I had the image that employees at Japanese companies were overworked, but I am able to lead a well-balanced life. In addition, teleworking allows me to be at home more often, and I am able to share household chores with my wife, which is very helpful."

Human resource development initiatives

"Blue Innovation is a company where employees can learn and grow with each other and where the careers that they envision and the contributions that they make to the company are valued. We are repeating trials every day to create such a culture and system," says President Kumada.
The company holds weekly morning meetings and numerous opportunities for discussion to elicit positive opinions from employees. The origin of this idea was that, during the five years of monthly one-on-one meetings with all employees, Kumada realized that sharing and approving opinions and ideas leads to mutual growth. The company also offers training programs to hone presentation, logical thinking, and other expressive skills. This project was realized in response to requests from the field to communicate new services to clients in an easy-to-understand manner, to organize issues in a logical way, and to make proposals that are beneficial to clients.
Currently, the company is preparing an in-house university wherein employees can systematically learn the skills necessary for their work. The company also focuses on other career support, such as career training provided by dedicated consultants when employees join the company. Under the company’s evaluation system, all required skills and evaluation items are visualized for each department/job. This is also the result of our reform efforts to ensure that work results are reflected in evaluations, regardless of age or position.
Paulo also commented: "I have regular meetings with my supervisor, and the environment allows me to openly discuss my career aspirations. As for evaluation, the clarity of the evaluation items for my position makes it easy for me to know what I need to work on next."

Message from foreign talent

Systems Engineer/Paulo Morales(Philippines)

Some people may think that they cannot work here if they cannot speak Japanese, but Tokyo is also becoming more and more global. What I found when I came here is that there are many different nationalities and many communities of foreigners. I don’t think there are many cities in the world that are this easy to live in. Just give it a try at first; I think you will like it.
